Jaccob “2C” Hearn
I enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 2013 to help fund my college education. I initially joined as a military journalist, eager to travel the world and share stories about the men and women serving in the armed forces. Writing was a strength and passion of mine, but what I discovered along the way was a deep enthusiasm for visual storytelling through photography.
Over the past decade in the military, I have primarily worked as a photographer and videographer, documenting training exercises and real-world missions across the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and South America. This work demanded adaptability, as I handled all aspects of production—from shooting to editing—often serving as the sole creator on multiple projects. Much of my technical expertise is self-taught, developed through working with older equipment in challenging environments.
I currently serve part-time in the National Guard, where I lead a team of photographers, videographers, and writers. This role has given me extensive experience in fast-paced production settings with tight deadlines, creating content for commercial recruiting, social media campaigns, and public archives.
Outside the military, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, focusing on film photography and alternative printing processes. I dedicate time to my studio work and gain practical experience working in the local film industry.
I recently completed an internship with Eleven Productions as a Production Assistant, further honing my skills on set. I am also certified through Film Birmingham’s Production Assistant training program. My technical proficiency includes extensive experience with Canon cameras, Adobe Creative Suite, and Capture One.
